Medical litigation against company and correlation with the perception of injustice

Medical litigation against company and correlation with the perception of injustice

Often the perception of injustice, especially between health operators, is the first reason why the relation between patient and doctor is not satisfactory. A bad doctor-patient relation is very likely to lead to medical litigation.

Background and purpose: To evaluate the risk of physiological and psychological damage in
doctors exposed to bullying behavior or to shifts and treatments that are too demanding
by the administration and therefore reduce the risk of litigation between the
facility and the health care professional Public health care employees, such as
doctors, had become more likely to have higher workload and inflexible working
hours as they keep up with the increasing demand Owing to shortages of staff,
most of the health care employees had become stress ridden as they had to work
for long working hours, face incompatible demands and find lack of support from
superiors

Methods: 20
doctors practicing in different structures, both public and private, were taken
into consideration The level of stress from bullying and or dissatisfaction and
the level of perception of being treated unfairly was assessed through
interviews and the administration of specific tests The age of the subjects
ranged from 38 to 60

Results: After
participating in the interview and or answering the tests, the results were as
follows 66 feel isolated (fig 1 70 feel diminished and undervalued (fig 2 80 do
not feel protected or over exposed (fig 3 and the 30 claim to be the target of bullying
or aggressive behaviour by nurses and or superiors (fig 4).

Discussion:
The data collected from this study might form part of policy making for both
the government and the management of public health care institutions and local
companies/hospitals Moreover, the findings on the stress factors affecting the
performance of health care workers may be used to develop strategies and provide
an environment that ensures improved employee performance Futher studies should
be carried on in order to enrich the empirical evidence on the stressors in
doctors and also provide recommendations for practitioners in investigating the
relationship between occupational stress and employee job performance in the
health care sector.

Conclusion:
Exposure to behavior perceived as bullying or aggressive has a close
correlation with perceived dissatisfaction and therefore the increased risk of
burn out. Isolation direct attacks or negative behaviors towards the healthcare
professional result in lower job satisfaction and a lesser willingness to
protect the company. The dedication to the work seems not to be affected
