Introduction and purpose of the study: assessing osteopathic treatment, with direct HVLA (High Velocity Low Amplitude) techniques at cost-vertebral level, stimulates the sympathetic system in healthy subjects.
Methods and materials: Materials and methods: 50 male subjects, 20 to 30 years old, healthy, non-smokers, consecutively recruited performing a basic assessment for each one (TC, FR, SpO2, right humeral and left PA and FC, at least 3 surveys). The subject examined has been sitting and resting for at least 20 minutes. No genetic disease, kyphoscoliosis, alterations in respiratory mechanics or drugs.
Results: The HVLA “DOG” techniques applied at cost-vertebral osteo-articular level on the 3 progressive levels, from T3 to T5, from T6 to T8 and from T9 to T12 to the right or sn depending on the present dysfunction. Subjects without dysfunction, ten, were in any case parameterised, untreated and considered control group. All were re-evaluated at 5 and 10 minutes, and 1 hour after the end of the treatment.
The negative passages a statistical significance at 5 ‘, 10’ and 1 hour for the respiratory rate p 0.0462 and for the diastolic pressure p 0.0325.
Conclusions: Osteopathic treatment at cost-vertebral level, through direct HVLA techniques stimulates the sympathetic autonomic nervous system first and then parasympathetic. It is a question of gaining an advantage in terms of hypotension and bradypnea.
